Childhood Is

Childhood Is

Childhood Is

 Time stretched out
like taffy.
playing cards
on bicycle spokes.
Grass stains
stronger than superman
or kryptonite.

Drippy, sticky

Popsicles
and licking the bowl.
Childhood is
being bold
jumping inpuddles

and growing old.

  1. First, the poet, in outlining his happy memories of childhood, gjves the readerba sweet peek into himself. He also paves a path into the reader's own happy memories, perhaps creating a desire to write one's own poem, which response promotes soul health. Second, my favorite part of this poem is 'and growing old.' In fact, it excites me to the point that I am highly tempted to explain. Suffice it to say that I fully relate.
